Kuwait will take strict measures against expats from Fahaheel who held demonstrations after prayers. There were orders to arrest and deport Asian Muslim expats, including Indians, who staged an agitation against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma in Kuwait City. It is illegal for expats to hold sit-ins or demonstrations in Kuwait. On June 10, some expats demonstrated in the Fahaheel area in Kuwait City.
At the demonstration, protestors were said to have chanted slogans against Nupur Sharma, the now-suspended BJP spokesperson. Organizing protests and agitation by expats is considered a serious crime in Kuwait, and the authorities are taking strict action to prevent repeat violations. WhatsApp users shared the video of the protest by foreign nationals widely. All demonstrators who participated are being arrested and sent home. Kuwait Ministry of Interior have also prohibited these expats from entering Kuwait ever again.
